SHIRT: Jennifer | JEANS: Zara | GILET: New Look | BOOTS: Aldo

I’ve been wanting to use my waterfall gilet for a while but the weather wasn’t helping. Now spring is perfect for layering pieces and I thought it was about time to style it with an all time favourite combo: denim over denim. This duo-chromatic look if full of life and details, and really comfortable for a day out.

I also like using this shirt by itself in the same exact look (grey boots and jeans) but this version is also very stylish: the gilet (similar here) adds fluidity to the outfit, making it a little more dressed up. Keeping it simple with accessories, I chose my Michael Kors watch which I have been using ever since I got it for my birthday last November! The camel colour is so versatile and it adds that final touch without compromising the ensemble.

HOW TO ADD RED TO YOUR OUTFIT

HOW TO ADD RED TO YOUR OUTFITHOW TO ADD RED TO YOUR OUTFIT 1

TOP (similar): Boohoo  |  SKIRT: Missguided | SHOES & BAG (1): Zara | SANDALS: H&M | BLAZER: Zara

Red can be tricky to wear as it limits your combinations and can make you look too flashy (assuming that’s not what you want) if not worn right. But there are ways to incorporate red into your outfit, and make you look elegant with the right amount of colour!

I love the colour and have a few red lipsticks, but noticed my wardrobe was lacking red pieces to brighten up the looks.  So I started finding smaller accessories – like the H&M pair of heeled sandals and the Zara bag – with a toned down hue until I built it up to a statement jacket (again from Zara), which is more of a bold choice.

I confess I was a bit torn between this red blazer and it’s black version, as the cut of this blazer jacket is just so beautiful. But I do own black blazers already which made things a bit easier: time to get it and start putting some outfits together!

The first look is a very basic black outfit (the skirt and lace top are here in this post), where I just added my burgundy bag to bring some life to it. Of course, I could keep it an all black look as there’s enough detailing in the pieces not to make it boring, but the bag just makes it a lot more fun.

The second look is when you’re ready to go bold and just add more than one piece of red to the ensemble like I did with the jacket, bag, and the shoes. They are also different but complimentary shades, so they look very harmonic with the black top and skirt.

Red is also a colour that pairs really well with white and grey, meaning there are a few other possibilities of using it with what you already have in your wardrobe. You can see me wearing it in this Instagram picture!

4 ESSENTIALS YOU NEED IN YOUR WARDROBE

4 ESSENTIALS YOU NEED IN YOUR WARDROBE

SHIRT & BOOTS: H&M  |  TOP: Boohoo  |  SKIRT: Missguided

Last month I found three of the four items above on sale and couldn’t believe how good they were, especially considering the price I’ve paid. And they were just what I was looking for: key neutral pieces that I believe everyone needs on their wardrobe. They are versatile, inexpensive and you will get a lot of wear out of them.

    1. WHITE SHIRT

I already own a few white shirts, but this viscose one from H&M has the style and fabric I was looking for. It’s very soft and a bit sheer, it’s in between dressed up and dressed down. It’s lightweight enough for spring and even summer, and this one costs only £12.99.

    2.LACE CAMI TOP

I use cami tops a lot during spring and summer, and I have this white and black one from Asos. But I didn’t have a lace one, and I found the above at Boohoo for the bargain of £6! They also have this other model that is really pretty. Perfect to wear under a cardigan or that slouchy jumper, so you have a subtly sexy touch!

    3. CHELSEA BOOTS

This is something I learned to be very English! I am loving Chelsea boots, they are comfortable for being flat but are still very stylish, so my first pair was a black suede one from M&S. Now I found this one at H&M that looks crisp (if this is an adjective I can use for boots…) and paid £18.99! (currently retailing at £24.99). Love wearing with (skinny) denim, skirts, and dresses. It’s real leather version is here.

    4. LEATHER SKIRT

Leather or faux leather like this one from Missguided that I got with 25% off (currently £18), this is an item I’m eager to wear this spring. I wanted a clean cut, not too short to too long, and a fabric that looked chic. This can be dressed down with cotton shirts and trainers, and dressed up in many different ways!

What pieces do you think are essential to your wardrobe? Let me know in the comments! And I’ll also be sharing how I’d style these items!

BEAUTY,THINGS I WANT

WISHLIST: NARS SOFT MATTE CONCEALER, ZOEVA PALETTE & MORE

WISHLIST: NARS SOFT MATTE CONCEALER, ZOEVA PALETTE & MORE

Let’s talk about what’s currently on my wishlist, including four makeup products, one skincare and one beauty device!

Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer: The newly launched Nars matte concealer seems already to be a hit, as it has a creamy matte texture that promises full coverage with a natural finish. I’m also excited to try one of their new 6 shades which are also available for the Radiant Creamy Concealer.

RejuvaliteMD Red Light Therapy: After trying the TrophySkin MiniMD Microdermabrasion System and having a nice experience with it, I’m curious to try their at-home LED treatment. It’s a combination of red, yellow, amber and infrared bulbs to penetrate different skin levels and treat multiples signs of aging, like fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, improve uneven skin tone and boost firmness. The device however is not easy to find in the UK, but there’s Lightstim, which is another interesting option and can be found here or here.

Olay Eyes Illuminating Eye Cream: I’m not using any eye cream at the moment as I use my face products around my eyes, but this Olay eye cream seems to have all the good ingredients: niacinamide, antioxidants, and peptide, as well as mineral pigments, to instantly brighten the area. I also have my eyes on the Olay 3 Point Super Serum for the face!

Zoeva Cocoa Blend Eyeshadow Palette: This is a palette with warm, truffle tones and a mix of matte and shimmer finishes. I find it can compliment all colours! And the quality and pigmentation of Zoeva is amazing.

Shiseido Perfect Rouge Lipstick in BE740: This is a lovely pinkish nude lipstick with radiant finish and hydrating properties. Next one I want to try and add to my nude list!

YSL Luxurious Mascara for False Lash Effect: With a re-mastered formula, the sense of volume is guaranteed in this classic YSL mascara, with further care ingredients for the eyelashes.
