HOW TO ADD RED TO YOUR OUTFIT

HOW TO ADD RED TO YOUR OUTFITHOW TO ADD RED TO YOUR OUTFIT 1

TOP (similar): Boohoo  |  SKIRT: Missguided | SHOES & BAG (1): Zara | SANDALS: H&M | BLAZER: Zara

Red can be tricky to wear as it limits your combinations and can make you look too flashy (assuming that’s not what you want) if not worn right. But there are ways to incorporate red into your outfit, and make you look elegant with the right amount of colour!

I love the colour and have a few red lipsticks, but noticed my wardrobe was lacking red pieces to brighten up the looks.  So I started finding smaller accessories – like the H&M pair of heeled sandals and the Zara bag – with a toned down hue until I built it up to a statement jacket (again from Zara), which is more of a bold choice.

I confess I was a bit torn between this red blazer and it’s black version, as the cut of this blazer jacket is just so beautiful. But I do own black blazers already which made things a bit easier: time to get it and start putting some outfits together!

The first look is a very basic black outfit (the skirt and lace top are here in this post), where I just added my burgundy bag to bring some life to it. Of course, I could keep it an all black look as there’s enough detailing in the pieces not to make it boring, but the bag just makes it a lot more fun.

The second look is when you’re ready to go bold and just add more than one piece of red to the ensemble like I did with the jacket, bag, and the shoes. They are also different but complimentary shades, so they look very harmonic with the black top and skirt.

Red is also a colour that pairs really well with white and grey, meaning there are a few other possibilities of using it with what you already have in your wardrobe. You can see me wearing it in this Instagram picture!

4 ESSENTIALS YOU NEED IN YOUR WARDROBE

4 ESSENTIALS YOU NEED IN YOUR WARDROBE

SHIRT & BOOTS: H&M  |  TOP: Boohoo  |  SKIRT: Missguided

Last month I found three of the four items above on sale and couldn’t believe how good they were, especially considering the price I’ve paid. And they were just what I was looking for: key neutral pieces that I believe everyone needs on their wardrobe. They are versatile, inexpensive and you will get a lot of wear out of them.

    1. WHITE SHIRT

I already own a few white shirts, but this viscose one from H&M has the style and fabric I was looking for. It’s very soft and a bit sheer, it’s in between dressed up and dressed down. It’s lightweight enough for spring and even summer, and this one costs only £12.99.

    2.LACE CAMI TOP

I use cami tops a lot during spring and summer, and I have this white and black one from Asos. But I didn’t have a lace one, and I found the above at Boohoo for the bargain of £6! They also have this other model that is really pretty. Perfect to wear under a cardigan or that slouchy jumper, so you have a subtly sexy touch!

    3. CHELSEA BOOTS

This is something I learned to be very English! I am loving Chelsea boots, they are comfortable for being flat but are still very stylish, so my first pair was a black suede one from M&S. Now I found this one at H&M that looks crisp (if this is an adjective I can use for boots…) and paid £18.99! (currently retailing at £24.99). Love wearing with (skinny) denim, skirts, and dresses. It’s real leather version is here.

    4. LEATHER SKIRT

Leather or faux leather like this one from Missguided that I got with 25% off (currently £18), this is an item I’m eager to wear this spring. I wanted a clean cut, not too short to too long, and a fabric that looked chic. This can be dressed down with cotton shirts and trainers, and dressed up in many different ways!

What pieces do you think are essential to your wardrobe? Let me know in the comments! And I’ll also be sharing how I’d style these items!

NOW YOU CAN HAVE THE BAGS OF YOUR DREAMS

the bags of your dreams Uncloset

BAG: Louis Vuitton Anouchka PM (Uncloset)/ SHOES: Precis / SCARF: Valentino / PARFUM: Chanel n5 L’eau

I remember the day I made my dream of a Designer Bag come true: It was in Paris, 2009, in that big and beautiful Louis Vuitton Store at Champs Elysées. Yes, I went for the classic Speedy model in the light colour, one of the least expensive from the store, and with my initials engraved on it. I’ve carried it proudly for a long time and eventually ended up getting a few other designer bags after it, which I cherish with my heart. I don’t have a collection, nor a different designer bag to show up with at every event I attend to, but things can change. And I’ve teamed up with Uncloset to bring you the brilliant news that you can have the bags (yes, bagS) of your dreams today, and they are only a few clicks away.

Uncloset.com launched this 1st of December with the concept of offering you and me the opportunity of choosing Designer bags, getting them at our doorstep, and exchanging them when we want, for a monthly subscription. When you subscribe and follow the steps to confirm your details, you are presented with a range of Designer Bags, from GUCCI to CHANEL, CELINE, LOEWE, PRADA, VALENTINO, DIOR, YSL, MULBERRY and others. You can choose the one you like, and then swap them for a different style, when you have a party to attend, for example. You can select the style according to your personal preferences and occasion, and not repeat a bag if you don’t want to!  Does that sound tempting?

Well, even more tempting is the fact that if you subscribe until December 31st, 2016 at midnight, you can use the code POPMYCHERRY and get a super discount! So you have to rush! I’ve already found the bag that’s right for me and will be selecting a different one soon – stay stunned for my next choice!

BLACK & CAMEL SUMMER OUTFIT

BLACK & CAMEL SUMMER OUTFIT

TOP: Asos / SKIRT: New Look / SANDALS: Aldo / SUNGLASSES: Taylor Morris

Except for the sunnies, all items of this outfit were bought at the beginning of this summer. I was able to use them a few times before heading to my vacation in Brazil and I decided to pack them with me despite July and August being winter there. You never know what you’ll get in Sao Paulo as temperatures may vary from nearly zero up to 27 degrees! And I was lucky to get some warm weather and use my summer pieces.

This Asos cami is a staple for me. I have alwas had them in white and decided to get them in black, because they fit nicely and look great with fitted bottoms – like the skirt of a skinny jeans. The Aldo flats in Cognac were a great addition to bring colour and keep things simple!

STRIPED COLORBLOCK BODYCON DRESS

Striped Colorblock Bodycon Dress

DRESS: SheIn / SHOES: Zara / HANDBAG: Michael Kors

This royal blue multicolor dress instantly caught my eyes for the combination of multiple yet non-flashy colours, and a very elegant shape. This dress has half sleeves, which I find more flattering than just normal short sleeves, although I’m used to sleeveless ones. The decollete is nice and can be used in the front or in the back. You can easily pair with pumps or heeled sandals and a small bag or clutch for a classic look! It’s great for daytime and you can dress it up for nighttime as well, just add a bold lip colour!

I would go for a statement earring and skip the necklace for this outfit, as the dress’ cut brings enough attention itself. The fabric is very lightweight so you can use it even on the hotter days, and you can transition it into autumn with a nice trench coat! Check some other options below:

CASUAL DENIM & GREY

CASUAL DENIM & GREY

SHIRT: Jennifer / DENIM: Zara / TRAINERS: New Balance / SUNNIES: Taylor Morris

Don’t panic guys, I’m not MIA (aka Missing in Action!) Just relaxing and enjoying family and friends here in Brazil! It’s winter here, and when I arrived it was pretty cold, around 5 to 8 °C. I packed a lot of pullovers, but as I know my country, I have bikinis and skirts with me. Even if it’s cold, the sun is out, and that’s what I love about tropical countries. In the mornings and evenings it can get a bit colder but during the day we get 25°C like today. And this is in the Southeast because you don’t really get a winter in the North/ Northeast regions and you can definitely get some snow in the South!

One outfit I brought with me is the one picture above. My dark denim shirt, low-rise skinny jeans, my New Balance trainers, and NY grey hat. All complimented by this lovely bag and my well-known Taylor Morris sunglasses. Their mirrored lenses always give an extra hype to my outfits. You can see me wearing this outfit in this Instagram photo.

I have a similar Flat Lay in this post here, but I have a white denim instead of blue jeans. And you can see me wearing it in this photo shoot with the kids!

Hope you get inspired!
