SHIRT: Jennifer | JEANS: Zara | GILET: New Look | BOOTS: Aldo

I’ve been wanting to use my waterfall gilet for a while but the weather wasn’t helping. Now spring is perfect for layering pieces and I thought it was about time to style it with an all time favourite combo: denim over denim. This duo-chromatic look if full of life and details, and really comfortable for a day out.

I also like using this shirt by itself in the same exact look (grey boots and jeans) but this version is also very stylish: the gilet (similar here) adds fluidity to the outfit, making it a little more dressed up. Keeping it simple with accessories, I chose my Michael Kors watch which I have been using ever since I got it for my birthday last November! The camel colour is so versatile and it adds that final touch without compromising the ensemble.

Jumpsuit: Principles by Ben de Lisi

It’s February and it’s snowing!! I might have flown out to the sun for the week, but this weekend I had an early Valentine’s date night with my hubby. We really enjoyed ourselves and the weather and  I could use my front tie cropped jumpsuit from Principles by Ben de Lisi, paired with heels and (of course) a wool coat.

Nothing boring about this jumpsuit that features a front bow, pockets and 3/4 sleeves. The robust fabric did not allow me to get cold, and it was perfect for inside. Debenhams has great gift ideas for this Valentine’s and this jumpsuit could be one of them, as they also do it in petite sizes.

A full black outfit can always be complimented with bold colours, and I decided to go for bright red lips with the Illamasqua Anti-Matter lipstick. I kept simple with accessories, using a black ear cuff and two round bracelets, and I felt it was just right for my date night. I if you want to see everything I used to get ready for my night out, make sure to check my previous post!

What are your plans for this Valentine’s day?

GET READY WITH ME FOR VALENTINE’S DATE NIGHT

GET READY WITH ME FOR VALENTINE'S DATE NIGHT

I love Valentine’s day! Even after getting married it’s a great excuse to dress up and get ready for a date night, put that perfume I love and remember why we are together after all.

Valentine’s is that special occasion to celebrate love, be romantic, seductive, feel attractive and powerful, and I have selected a few of my favourites items from Debenhams so you can get ready with me. And, of course, have some great ideas for your own special night!

After showering and getting cosy in my robe, I’ll prep my skin for makeup. That step will normally include a moisturiser and primer, but Urban Decay stepped up the game with their new Naked Skin One and Done Tinted Moisturiser.  It blurs imperfections, hydrates the skin, contains peptides and vitamins and lasts for hours. I love how it has a light to buildable coverage, semi-matte finish and doesn’t make me oily throughout the day. My colour is light-medium.

Next I’ll do my eyes, and I’m kind of obsessed with palettes right now. I chose the Bobbi Brown ‘Sultry Nude’ Eye and Cheek Palette for this look as I can make nude smoky eyes to go with bold lips. I always start by smudging the medium colour on my crease, then build it up with the darkest shade. The lightest colour will go on the inner corners of the eyes and highlight the brow bones, and the golden glittery colour will go on the centre of my eyes.

Mascara is the final step to the eyes, and I am currently using the new Guerlain “La Petite Robe Noir”. The 4 in 1 formula offers length, volume, curl and definition, so you can tailor it the way you want. The packaging is just adorable and, if I can tell a secret, it smells divine! (No surprise as all Guerlain’s makeup smell like heaven!)

On to cheeks, Bobbi Brown Sultry Nude Eye and Cheek Palette comes again handy, with a silky powder blush in a flattering pink tone. Will this palette travel with me yes or for sure?!? Not to mention the golden luxurious packaging that will dress your table!

Not too surprising that I picked a red bold lip colour for my Valentine’s date night. This bright red is the Illamasqua Anti-Matter Lipstick,  which glides on super smooth, with a semi-matte finish and comfortable, continuous wear. The Midnight shade was the perfect addition to my other deep red hues.

Finally, I will set all my makeup with the Kat Von D “Lock It” Makeup Mist. It will make it all stay in place for up to 24 hours and it’s undetectable. I like how it gives the skin an instant boost with a refreshing cucumber scent, and I don’t have to worry about checking my face all the time.

My fragrance for the night is Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Debenhams exclusive, that comes with this amazing rose gold flower to compliment the bottle. It’s my newest scent obsession and the eau the parfum that was missing in my collection. It’s opulent with flower notes, but not too strong or too sweet either. I find it delicate and sexy at the same time, definitely not saving it for special occasions only!

Before dressing up for Valentine’s night, I carefully chose this Reger by Janet Reger Dark Pink lace body. It’s elegant and effortlessly feminine, flattering with delicate lace finish. I’m also loving body lately, and how they can be worn under certain clothes for that peak through lingerie detail.

WEDDING IN BRAZIL – FAMILY ALBUM

Weddings are always so special! If words could describe the burst of emotions during such a precious ceremony, they would say magical, unique, breathtaking!

We went to Brazil on the 24th of December to spend the holidays with the family, but there was this particular occasion happening on Jan-8th: my brother in law’s wedding. I was gracefully part of the maid of honor’s team, that should wear a long and pink gown for the ceremony that happened on a Sunday afternoon, precisely at 4.30pm (yes, bride was 1.30h late :)) It was very hot and sunny, but as the afternoon went by, it became more and more pleasant.

Alexia was chosen to enter with flowers along with her brother (that should hold a sign), but he had decided way before the wedding that he was not doing it at all! And there went Alexia, alone, and when she saw the crowd staring at her, she immediately froze and started turning back. It was when the groom went to meet her, all the way back from the aisle, took her in his arms, hugging her and calming her down. Just indescribable! Of course, mummy here was bursting into tears until her false lashes fell down. Luckily I have learned the hard way you should never ever trust your false lashes, and had carried the glue with me in my clutch.

The photos are all personal and unofficial, and I cannot wait to see their wedding album! A day to treasure forever!

It’s winter, it’s cold, and I still wanted to bring a warm and fresh look under the beautiful sun. The coldest month is about to leave us behind, and although spring isn’t around the corner, I have that blossoming feeling inside!

I know, it’s probably because I just came back from summer days in Brazil, or because we will have a family escape to the sun again very soon, or just because I’m feeling fresh and renewed this year! January blues says hi but does not get my attention that’s for sure!

I can say this look represents how I’m feeling: it’s delicate, feminine, elegant, and the pink colour is that happy touch or smile, let’s say! (And don’t be fooled by some pictures, this bag is as pink as it gets!)

Now I’m just hoping the sun comes out more often, me and the rest of England!!

SUNSET IN BRAZIL AND HAIR TALK

Photos by Maju Oller

Hey, guys!! I’m enjoying my last days of vacation in Brazil and will fly back after my brother in law’s wedding this weekend. It’s summer and it’s so hot in here, but one thing I miss about Brazil is the sunset. You can actually appreciate the sun setting most days of the year. It’s breathtaking, it’s magical and special.

I’m not sure I’m ready to go back to our winter in London, but one thing’s for sure: I’m so ready for a haircut. And a good one. I’m always used to grow my hair long and then cut it short again, and I’ve been doing that for around eight years now. When I started the blog a year and a half ago my hair was already long, and I postponed the haircut I was eager to get in 2016. I believe it was a good decision because I was able to photograph a lot of looks and editorials with my long hair and I am happy with all the results. But I’m definitely not only my hair, and despite 9 out of 10 people saying I shouldn’t get my hair cut, I will (by the time I post this I will already have a new do!).

Some people hold on to their hair length, but that’s just not me. God only knows how long it takes me to manage my thick, curly, unruly and full of body hair that I’m so thankful for! I’m also very thankful for Brazilian hair treatments that make life easier most of the time, and that I usually get only when I’m here. The rest of the time is beloved hair dryer and flat iron, and all of my hair products that I’ve listed here and here (I confess there’s more, and I’ll share them soon!).

What better way to start the year than saying goodbye to my long hair? Hum… to be continued.

Ariella
