IN MY BAG

IN MY BAG

IN MY BAG 2

Keeping faithful to my love for red hues this festive season, I got to choose one of the new Marc B handbags and my pick was this lovely Emerald Burgundy Grab Bag. It’s a classic flat style, it’s quilted and the chain shoulder strap is detachable. But best of all, it features three separate compartments which make it sooo spacious! And yes, I can keep my elegance and carry the world in it, meaning one section is for the kids, one for snacks (their and mine!) and one for myself. I try not to carry too much junk in it, but the truth is, the bigger the bag, the more stuff we will fit in it!

I always carry my Swarovski Crystalline pen, but I must admit that I have my eyes on the rose gold Stardust one. For sunglasses, I either have one of my Pradas, and currently my black Cinema is matching my outfits more (black, black, black… don’t I ever get tired?!) Fragrance wise, I’m loving the Chanel n5 L’eau which I recently got at their new Jewellery collection launch cocktail, and it’s more subtle than the original fragrance.

I don’t carry loads of makeup when I’m on the go, rather the essentials: a lip balm (I’ve reviewed my favourite one here, and the one on the photo is just a tinted version of it); a lipstick – love the light pink colour of the MAC Creme Cup; and a blush/highlighter from Bobbi Brown – mine is the Shimmer Brick Compact in Pink Quartz. I carry my BareMinerals Full Flawless face brush in its mini version to apply the powder.

What do you guys carry in your bags? Let me know!

MAC LIPTENSITY CLINIQUE BAREMINERALS

BAREMINERALS PREP STEP DAILY PREP LOTION: BareMinerals has some great primers and this new one couldn’t be better as it’s a combination of primer and sunscreen that will leave our skin ready for makeup. Has skin conditioners and mineral sunscreen with invisible finish SPF 50.

STILA HUGE EXTREME LASH: Black, major volume with just one coat of this mascara. No clumping, lash conditioners and long-wearing formula, I’ve tried this mascara during London Fashion Weekend event hosted by Shopstyle and fell in love with it!

CLINIQUE HIGH IMPACT CUSTOM BLACK KAJAL: This new Clinique’s release appears to be somehow similar to their Eyes Intense Liner, but has specific dark colours that claim to be pigment-rich and have up to 12 hours staying power.

CLINIQUE CITY BLOCK PURIFYING CHARCOAL CLAY MASK & SCRUB: This is a two-in-one mask that purifies skin with charcoal and clay that will absorb oil, and silica beads to exfoliate. Contains soothing agents, works in 5 minutes and won’t dry skin.

BAREMINERALS SKINLONGEVITY VITAL POWER INFUSION: It’s a fluid gel that will hydrate skin and add a lasting glow, maintaining it’s health and helping reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Contains a good mix of Niacinamide and Vitamin C for antioxidant properties.

MAC LIPTENSITY: Launched in the USA last week, this limited 24 shades lipstick edition is due to October here in Europe. “Fully saturated colour with a satin finish” is what we can expect from this range. Driftwood is the colour I’m dying to try on!!

NUDE PINK DRUGSTORE LIPSTICK, LIPGLOSS AND LACQUER BALM

NUDE PINK DRUGSTORE LIPSTICK, LIPGLOSS AND LACQUER BALM

I’ve acquired a few drugstore lip products lately, trying to find nice rosy/nude shades to add to my collection. I tend to go for creamier and lighter textures rather than matte ones for a day to day use, as my lips can sometimes become dry and chapped.

Light pink and rosy nudes are my go-to colours and I instantly wanted to try the Revlon Colorburst Lacquer Balm in Demeure (105) when I saw a swatch on the internet. The colour is absolutely perfect!! I’ve been wanting to find that shade for a long time and it flatters my skin tone just right. This was actually the first time I tried a Lacquer Balm, and I have to say I found some drawbacks on this one. The colour as I said is a dream, a sheer delicate pink that is a bit hydrating, however, the staying power is very low. And it has peppermint on its composition – which made my lips sting at the beginning – but after a few uses, I didn’t feel it anymore.

The Bourjois 3D Effect Lipgloss is a product I already liked and wanted to try a new shade. They have a very nice range from transparent to bright red and a lot of pink tones. The one I bought now was number 29 “Rose Charismatic”, which is an almost transparent glittery pink that hydrates and does not feel sticky although it’s a bit thick. And it lasts quite well!

Last product I wanted to try was the Rimmel London Kate Nude, part of Kate Moss’ nude collection. They exist in five shades and I got number 40, the lightest one. It’s a long-lasting hydrating lipstick with nudes that can flatter different skin tones. I liked the colour, although it’s not pinkish, but it’s true that this lipstick is not very pigmented (at least the shade I tried). As far as long lasting goes, I would say it’s halfway there!

NUDE PINK DRUGSTORE LIPSTICK, LIPGLOSS AND LACQUER BALM 1

I’m also a fan of Victoria’s Secret Color Drama Lipstick in Naked. I have had this lipstick forever and probably they even  changed the collection! And Sephora’s Lipgloss in Natural Look (03) which unfortunately is not sold in the UK, although you might find it on Amazon.

Do you use nude pink lipsticks? Which ones do you love??

BOURJOIS HEALTHY MIX SERUM FOUNDATION

BOURJOIS HEALTHY MIX SERUM FOUNDATION

I picked up the Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation at the drugstore with no big expectations. My last experience with a serum foundation was a total disaster at the beginning but ended up being more of an application problem than anything else.  This foundation caught my attention because it claims to boost skin’s radiance and erase signs of fatigue with a vitamin-rich fruit therapy that includes litchi, goji berries, and pomegranate. All of that with a natural non-mask finish.

I got mine in shade 53, Beige Clair, which seems a little dark at first, but just blends perfectly with my skin color. It is a lightweight foundation with light to medium coverage that doesn’t feel like a serum to me. I need to say that I am impressed with it!! The first time I used it, I applied only a small amount with my hands and I got even complexion. By the end of the day, it simply looked so beautiful and even more natural, like I wasn’t wearing anything! I used more foundation the second time and it still looked natural. I finished it by powdering with the Benefit PoreFessional and started to get a very discrete oiliness only after the 8 hours.

BOURJOIS HEALTHY MIX SERUM FOUNDATION 1

It has a semi-mate finish that looks incredibly natural and feels comfortable, lasting all day. Another drugstore find that definitely surprised me! I’ve also reviewed their City Radiance Foundation here, so you can compare both.

Have you ever tried these foundations before? Let me know!

BOURJOIS CITY RADIANCE FOUNDATION & MAYBELLINE INSTANT AGE REWIND CONCEALER

BOURJOIS CITY RADIANCE FOUNDATION & MAYBELLINE INSTANT AGE REWIND CONCEALER

I decided I needed to renew my makeup collection and went straight to the drugstore, where you have tons of options and very good prices. I did my prior research on specific items I was looking for, like the Maybelline Concealer, but ended up bumping into the Bourjois Foundation. I figured to give it a go.

The Bourjois City Radiance is a new foundation specially designed for the daily city life. It has an anti-pollution formula, contains SPF 30, it’s hydrating and promises a fresh and luminous complexion with radiance-boosting pigments. Comes in 6 shades and I got the 04 Beige shade, though I could get away with a lighter color. I find it has medium coverage and a nice semi-satin finish that looks natural. Don’t expect it to be anything like a super illuminating product as Laura Mercier Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer, so I guess slightly oily skin can easily use this foundation without fearing the extra glow (and it’s non-comedogenic). I do powder it so it stays longer, and it does have a nice staying power. I’m very pleased with this foundation and use it when I go out – daytime or nighttime. You’ll look fresh, natural and polished.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind / Erase Eyes is a concealer that comes in a tube with a sponge type applicator. They say their active formula reduces the look of puffiness and erase dark circles, while brightening the eye area. It is very very lightweight, blends easily and looks extremely natural. The only drawback to me is that it is not as full coverage as it claims to be, and it does not erase my dark circles by far. Apparently there’s a shade called “neutralizer” for extreme dark circles but I did not find it here in the UK. Looking at their UK website seems that the formula is a bit different and there are only two shades: nude and light (mine is light).  I like to use it though as my day to day concealer and it also works well as a highlighter if you get the lighter shade. And it does not crease!! That’s particularly great if you have fine lines and if you’re searching for a very natural looking and feeling concealer. Nobody wants their concealer creasing anyway!

What are you guys using at the moment?

TOP 3 VOLUMIZING MASCARAS AND ONE THAT MIGHT SUIT YOU

TOP 3 VOLUMIZING MASCARAS

I have been trying a few mascaras lately and ended up with ones that could potentially fit each person’s need.

I do have long lashes of my own and just love to make them thick and bold. I cannot understand how people like that green and pink Maybelline mascara so much that I once heard it was a world’s best seller (!!!) I tried it once and I couldn’t find it more boring (sorry guys!), but that’s something really personal. Guess I’m the minority who likes their lashes almost a little clumpy (but just a little!).

First one I got was the BareMinerals Lash Domination. It claims to be a volumizing mascara that also lengthens, tickens, separates, lifts, resists clumps and fight flakes. I wasn’t really happy with the fact that it does not clump a little (!!) and doesn’t really deliver the thickening promise, but this mascara can really lengthens. So it might suit you!

Second one I got it was a real bargain of 2.99 euros in a Pharmacy in Paris. I was a bit skeptical as I had never heard of that brand before (and you won’t probably find it easily) but it surprised me. Extra volume is not exactly what it delivers, but a combination of ok volume and length. It’s nor thick or thin, just a perfect combination of a bit of everything. I easily wear this on my day to day makeup for a nice yet discrete look. Alternatively I would say this is a dupe of the Maybelline Colossal.

Lastly I purchased the KIKO Milano VolumEyes+ as referred by a friend. KIKO was new to me, I had never tried any of their products before but started noticing more stores opening around Paris while I was still there. Went to check it out and was also positively surprise by the good price and good quality of their products. Now this mascara is amazing!! It gave me that volume I like, and it’s easy to apply. It says it has a K2 Prolash Complex that will thicken the diameter of your lashes after 30 days of use, but I don’t really know nor rely on that. All I can say is that this is my favorite one out of the three just because gives me that perfect full lashes look!

So this one just joined my TOP 3 Volumizing Mascaras:

  1. L’Oreal Lash Architect (all time favorite)
  2. KIKO Milano VolumEyes+ – now second on the rank
  3. L’Oreal Voluminous Original

 What are your favorite mascaras??
