EASY TEETH WHITENING

easy teeth whitening with baking soda

It’s not always we have the possibility to go for a professional teeth whitening but we certainly always want whiter teeth!! And what better than two simple tricks to do at home for great results with no fuss? While living in Paris my dentist taught me these 2 things to keep my smile bright and here’s what you can do:

1 – BRUSH YOUR TEETH WITH BAKING SODA (SODIUM BICARBONATE)

Have you ever heard about Julia Robert‘s beauty secret? That’s right, she claims to brush her teeth with baking soda thanks to her grandfather’s advice. My dentist told me I could do it once a week, putting the baking soda directly on the toothbrush instead of the regular toothpaste. You can also use it as a mouthwash diluted in water due to its high pH, disinfectant and antiseptic properties.

2- MAKE A LIME AND BAKING SODA PASTE

Another great thing for teeth whitening and for keeping it stain-free (especially if you drink coffee or wine regularly) is to make a lime and baking soda paste. You basically need one tea spoon of baking soda and one table spoon of freshly squeezed lime, you mix them (do not use any metals) and apply directly to your teeth with a cotton, leaving for a maximum of 2 minutes (baking soda is abrasive). Alternatively, you can delicately brush your teeth with it. She told me to do it only once a month so I believe she’s on the safe side. I’ve heard people saying this can be done on a weekly basis, but I’ve never tried that much myself to tell. I’ve also only used lime (which is the green one) but guess the acidity of both lemon and lime should work fine.

IN SUMMARY, THIS IS WHAT YOU SHOULD BE DOING:

– Brush your teeth with baking soda once a week;

– Make a paste with 1 tea spoon of baking soda + 1 table spoon of squeezed lime, applying with a cotton to the teeth for 2 minutes, once a month

The great thing about this beauty hack is that it’s very cheap and effective, I’ve seen results myself and try to do it on a regular basis! But bare in mind that you should always speak to your dentist before trying any of this, as it might not suit you.

Have you ever tried these beauty hacks at home? What do you do to maintain your teeth white? Let me know in the comments!

      Hi Samantha! I have never experienced teeth sensitivity with this at all. I have had sensitivity when trying those teeth whitening strips though. XX
