Wearing black all year round is very possible. I found myself buying some black tops and bottoms this summer and decided to put together an all-black look to inspire you to stay chic and fresh in a monochrome outfit. If you follow this basic guideline, you’ll be able to pull off a great black ensemble in the hot weather:
TOP x BOTTOM
If you opt for a loose top, go for a slimmer bottom – or a bodycon pencil skirt, in my case. Fitted tops and loose bottoms are also a go (cropped tops will work great), and in some cases fitted tops and fitted bottoms as well. Just try not to use everything loose, or you might end up with a heavy and sloppy black look.
Sleeveless tops are my favorite, and during summer they give us more “room” to breathe. If you prefer some sleeve you can still use it, but less fabric is less black and more apparent skin. Sleeveless is best if you choose pants too. Check this other post with a great example!
Light fabrics are obviously more comfortable during summer, but you also don’t want to add any more heaviness to your all-black outfit. They say you get hotter when wearing darker colours, so keep the fabrics as light as possible.
You can mix and match colours when it comes to accessories. I chose black sunglasses and shoes but went for a white & brown handbag to break the seriousness. Just don’t go too crazy with it and tons of accessories or colours like bright red or blue (for example). Keep it simple!
